Our Year 2 and 3 classes have been learning to read simple notation by playing rhythms, - firstly by clapping and then on instruments. Each group chose a different type of instrument to perform the piece in 4 different parts. Here are some photos of L1 performing a 'The Thunderer' by John Philip Sousa. Our performance hats help us get ready to perform in our class concert!
Students in Year 2 and 3 have been composing their own 4 bar rhythms and performing them on un-tuned percussion instruments. They all performed their compositions and the class repeated each rhythm as an echo.
We are learning about the music of the
CARNIVAL OF THE ANIMALS - Le carnaval des animaux
by French composer Camille Saint-Saens.
The music was composed 120 years ago and is still very popular. You may hear the music of 'The Aquarium' if you visit AQWA in Hillary's. It is also used in th film 'Finding Nemo!'
Here is the Introduction and the March of the Lion ! Listen to the roaring lion!
